Ahhhh, finally some good shit. I never really took a liking to R&B.. some songs I do admit I like, but very few. The irony of that bit is that one of my best friends, my very BEST friend to be exact, is in fact an r&b singer. An up and coming artist who is working her ass off to get to where she wants to be. Shit, now I am fed up with everyone trying to be "the next best thing". Guys wanting to be rappers, girls wanting to be singers, its ridiculous. My homie Zewdy truly has a God given talent. Certain songs she sings makes me cry, and thats mad gay but her voice has some sort of healing power. The funny thing about her is that she's incredibly tiny. When you look at her you expect to hear some little tiny annoying voice, but no, her voice is strong and powerful. Just because she is my friend doesn't mean that that's the only reason why I'm backing her up. The girl can blow, she has lungs of a God and always gives people a run for their money once she opens her mouth. Music to her is effortless, she's been through shit, so she knows what pain is, and she knows how to take it and make it work. Give her a listen, check out her youtube, or her myspace.. So.. I write for my school newspaper, and this past issue for Feb. I couldn't think of an article to write. Normally we have a column called "Trendspotter" about the latest fashions and what not. Well this issue I decided to take a chance at Trendspotter and do it my way. You can't read exactly what the article says from the picture, so I took the liberty of rewriting it for you guys.

"With Fashion Week in full motion, I’m pretty sure everyone is buzzing about all the elite designers such as Diane Von Furstenburg, Carolina Herrera, and 3.1 Phillip Lim, who have become household names. Unfortunately, the spotlight is never focused on underground urban clothing lines. There are plenty of amazing lines that appear on the streets, as well as on television, that people see but never know much about. Brands like Married to the MOB, ALIFE, and Supreme are seen everywhere, but rarely acknowledged. Leah McSweeney, an urban women’s clothing designer and the creator of Married to the MOB, has tried her best to evolve from just some everyday clothing line into a distinguished brand. She went from selling t-shirts out of her New York apartment to selling her clothes in the Bloomingdales of Paris, Collette. Leah has taken the phrase “girl power” and created an entirely new meaning. Making shirts with witty phrases such as “Men Are the New Women,” or “Other B----es Just Front,” gives the brand an attitude of its own and makes it stand out from the rest. Top 5 (Dead or Alive)

So I had a huge argument about who was in the top 5 dead or alive rapper list. Apparently no one can agree on the same 5 artists or the exact order for that matter. I've come to the conclusion "to each his own." There are thousands of rappers and there is no way, with the way people are, that people can agree on the same list. First of all 5 is a small number, there would be a better chance of people agreeing on the best top 10 than the best top 5. I decided that after getting badgered on what I thought was the top 5, I would ask many different people who have different tastes. Now I must say some people are just damn hard headed, I had made it EXTREMELY clear that it was top 5, not top 1, or top 7, but the human race is extremely flawed and I guess I can't get mad at people for being the simple humans that they are. Now I had posted a blog on myspace, as well as sent messages to different people on my friends list. I figured myspace was the easiest way to find different kinds of people. My blog had said:

Now, did i not say DEAD OR ALIVE? Why must his list be limited to one person? Do the dead rappers not count? I don't know but anyways, next person was my friend Donna, a girl who was practically raised in Summit, and must I say it shows from the looks of her list:

So this morning when I woke up, instead of the usual Good Morning... I was asked a interesting question by my 50 year old aunt. Do you know Asher Roth? My mind went on a tangent. I mean was she going threw my itunes while i was sleep and stumbled upon I Love College. Sadly enough that wasnt the case. She had read this article online.

The Universal recording artist left Atlanta today on a Los Angeles-bound flight for a taped performance of Carson Daly. As the plane approached California, a man hopped up claiming he had a bomb. He then assaulted at least one flight crew member. According to the Los Angeles Times, several passengers attempted to subdue the suspected terrorist— one of which happened to be none other than 23-year-old Asher Roth. After being detained, the man attempted to escape out one of the plane’s exits after it landed at LAX. Police are currently interrogating the suspect.

The great Stephen Sprouse is back, not literally of course, seeing as though he passed away in 2004. Louis Vuitton is launching its new Stephen Sprouse collection at the Lv in soho. They are going to be redecorating the store, releasing some limited editon things and hosting some cocktail parites. Im not even a skateboarder but i thought this picture was one to post about. Alot of diffrent designers have paid homage to Sprouse in the past, which is deserving. He made it cool to stand out.

So I love to laugh, and more often were only exposed to comics that star in blockbuster movies, or who have HBO specials.And im so not the ultra femenist, but where the hell are the female comedians. wtf. So with that being said I want to shout out my new up and coming favorite comic Joyelle. Shes hilarous. Respect the hustle. Shes a comedian and a yoga instructor. Get with it.
Joyelle is from Jersey, so i guess that makes it all better. She lives in LA now, so if your over in that area check her out.

“Braveheart, braveheart, braveheart,” the filled-to-the-Hammerstein’s-capacity crowd chanted on December 26 as they impatiently waited for “Escobars return.” For about a two hour wait after the promised 7:00pm start of the concert the lights finally dimmed. The potent stench of marijuana filled the air and every “hip hop head” in the building was prepared for this euphoric occurrence that they were about to witness. With Mr. C on the 1’s and 2’s playing every throw back from all the hip hop legends i.e. Wu-tang, Method Man, Capone, Noreaga, even down to Big L. The crowd began to get amped up and was ready for Nas to come on stage. Once on stage Nas rocked it, dressed in a simple t-shirt and jeans. He was there for one thing and one thing only, to spit lyrics that would leave people speechless. He started off with some of his newest songs like "Sly Fox", and "Fried Chicken" and once he was warmed up he brought it back to the ‘90s and did some of his most memorable songs such as "Hate Me Now," and "N.Y. State of Mind." Just when the crowd was at its peak, and thought it couldn’t get any better, Nas brought out his lifetime friend and partner AZ. They began to do songs together from their old ‘90s rap group, The Firm, and before leaving, AZ recited his notorious verse from "Life’s A B#$%^." AZ’s surprise appearance was most definitely a treat for the audience, but Nas didn’t stop there. He eventually brought out Busta Rhymes who performed some of his new music, as well old music like "If You Really Wanna Party With Me." By this time, the audience was sure that Nas couldn’t top what he had already done. What more could he give them? “Yeah what up ma, take a look, you hypnotized,” Naish from Qb’s finest began to recite from one of their most famous songs with Nas "Oochie Wally" as him and Jungle walked onto the stage. The audience couldn’t believe it, but once the two rappers were standing next to Nas, the crowd went out of control. Not only did Nas bring to the table more than expected, he left the crowd wanting more. He took the beautiful Hammerstein Ballroom venue and made into a meeting place where all hip-hop lovers alike could listen to the greatest rap music of all time. With New York being the breeding ground of hip-hop, there was no better place to hold such a concert.

Ever since Nas' brave statement that hip-hop is dead, rappers have seemed to go far out of their way to prove him even more correct then expected. Rappers such as Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and even the highly respected Kanye West have forgotten what hip-hop really means and have focused more on "gettin' money" rather than music as an art. Thankfully us true "hip-hop heads" have artists such as Little Brother, Lupe Fiasco, Wu-tang, just to name a few to keep our ears from bleeding endlessly while the rest of the world plays these auto tuned filled so called rap lyrics. Well, at least we thought. Who is this Percival Fats? Could he be a new artist or just a rapper going by a pseudonym? Many people believe that its Lupe Fiasco and at first I did too, until i heard that fictitious British accent. Would Lupe go that far? Or is this just all fun and games. Yes, Kanye decided to be the next best thing and start singing on his tracks, and yes Lil Wayne decided getting shit faced beyond belief and crying like a baby on tracks would bring in the doe, but a British rock star, Lupe, for real? I don't know, the game is all mucked up and is in desperate need of some help right about now. Hopefully the new Jadakiss album will set some people straight or Red Cafe will bring some fire to the game. What ever, check out these Lupe, excuse me, I mean Percival Fats tracks and let me know what you think.

So New Years Eve, is my mothers birthday so I spent it with family and friends. Good times. People began to leave at like 3am. But I felt the urge to go to Georgia. So the mother booked me on a 6:30 fight to GA, so to the airport i went. A few hours on a flight and an aggrivating woman sitting next to me here I am.

Flight was basically empty, so everyone sat where ever they wanted. I feel asleep before we took off, I was beat and I knew I wasnt going to be able to take a nap when i got down there. Midway threw the flight I feel someones leg basically on top of mine. Some woman came out of no where. Sitting next to me adjusting to air vents. Initially i wanted to say something. But with about 45 minutes to go. I just let it be.
So when I landed it was goood from there. Definatly spent some family time. Met up with Anayah at Stonecrest. Probably hit up Buckhead tomorrow. more to follow.

So growing up I swear I saw this movie 200 hundred times. I always thought it was hilarous. But being that I was younger I didnt get Robin Harris's genius.Bebe's kids is definatly about a guy having to take care of some bad ass kids that dont even belong to him. Its good stuff. When I was younger I loved the idea of kids taking over an amusement park. But of course now that Im older i so appreciate it more. But I need to express my love for darkskin guys. Not to say that light skin guys arent attractive. But lets not discriminate on the dark skin dudes. Yeah so Christmas is over. I swear it came and went, to fast for my liking. But Christmas in my family consist of early morning Christmas breakfast, the crap grab bag ( which consist of household items from each others house. This game is hilarous, well if you have the sorts of characters that I have in my family.) and lots and lots of laugh. Each year i have a memory of some sort of crazy act being done for some odd reason.
